where she received her B.A. in Economics and Sociology,
M.A. in Sociology and J.D. from the William S. Richardson
School of Law.

A practicing attorney with more than twenty-nine years
of experience, she has been recognized in "The Best
Lawyers in America" since 1995;the 2005-2006 edition
marks her 10th Anniversary.  Martindale-Hubbell awarded
her an AV rating in 2004.

was elected President of the Senate, the first woman to lead either house in the
Hawai'i legislature.
